WIRED Partner Programs


TechMaker is designed to make New Mexico’s vibrant technology industry even more successful by expediting the tech transfer process.  Funding and support for TechMaker come from a Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) grant from the U.S. Department of Labor. The nationwide effort fosters collaborations to improve workforce and economic development.

New Mexico WIRED
, one of 39 WIRED initiatives across the nation, received a three-year, $5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to expand the state’s high tech industry.  Program goals include:

  • Creating green manufacturing jobs
  • Expanding the pipeline of “green tech talent”
  • Developing the entrepreneurial and innovative capacity of the region around green technology

To reach those goals New Mexico WIRED is focusing on a series of programs to build regional workforce capacity and foster economic transformation in six tech industries:

  • Renewable energy
  • Green building
  • Microelectronics
  • Optics & Photonics
  • Aerospace manufacturing
  • Advanced manufacturing
