WIRED Partner Programs
TechMaker is designed to make New Mexico’s vibrant technology industry even more successful by expediting the tech transfer process. Funding and support for TechMaker come from a Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) grant from the U.S. Department of Labor. The nationwide effort fosters collaborations to improve workforce and economic development.
New Mexico WIRED, one of 39 WIRED initiatives across the nation, received a three-year, $5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to expand the state’s high tech industry. Program goals include:
- Creating green manufacturing jobs
- Expanding the pipeline of “green tech talent”
- Developing the entrepreneurial and innovative capacity of the region around green technology
To reach those goals New Mexico WIRED is focusing on a series of programs to build regional workforce capacity and foster economic transformation in six tech industries:
- Renewable energy
- Green building
- Microelectronics
- Optics & Photonics
- Aerospace manufacturing
- Advanced manufacturing
