TechMaker – The Tech Transfer Tool

The big buzzword in technology is “tech transfer” -- how to get breakthrough technology out of the labs and into the marketplace. It’s a body of knowledge that hasn’t been consolidated – until now.

TechMaker is a dynamic, wiki-based knowledge collaborative. Experts in a wide range of fields have lent their knowledge to create an online curriculum of interactive maps to explain each step in the tech transfer process from prototyping to marketing. Every step in the TechMaker maps is linked to an online educational resource developed by a subject matter expert.

TechMaker is a FREE tool for educators and entrepreneurs. Educators can use TechMaker to teach their students about tech transfer. Entrepreneurs can use TechMaker as a guide to taking their technologies to market. The flexible tool allows users to study the entire tech transfer process or choose only the elements of interest to them.

Free, individualized training on using TechMaker is provided to every teacher and entrepreneur approved to use the interactive tool. Users also have access to informational case studies and valuable assessment tools to measure TechMaker’s efficacy.

A WIRED Initiative

TechMaker is part of the New Mexico Workforce Innovation in Regional Economy Development (WIRED) designed to strengthen New Mexico's workforce capacity and economic transformation in six tech sectors:

  • Renewable energy
  • Green building
  • Microelectronics
  • Optics & Photonics
  • Aerospace manufacturing
  • Advanced manufacturing

TechMaker was developed by tech transfer experts and knowledge engineers at RandomBusinessServices LLC and BehaveHeuristics who saw the need for a tool people could use to move technology out of labs and tech start-ups and into the marketplace. The developers used carefully selected teams of mentors and interns who worked together to research and verify all of the TechMaker content.
